Overview

AuditWizard 8.4.6 is a minor release of the product.

You must be using AuditWizard 8.3.0 or later before you can upgrade to the latest version. If you are using an earlier version please upgrade to 8.3.0 before attempting to upgrade to the latest version. Instructions are included in the section Obtaining the Upgrade below.

Upgrade

Obtaining the Upgrade

Please log in to the Client Support Portal to download the upgrade installer. Click AuditWizard in the Update menu on the left-hand side. The release page contains a link.

If you are using an earlier version than 8.3.0, you will find a link to the 8.3.0 upgrade on the release page.

Test Installation

It is highly recommended that you implement a Test Installation and upgrade it before committing the new version to your live system. Failing this, if your server is virtual, snapshot it before upgrading so that you can roll back if necessary.

Procedure

Do not uninstall AuditWizard prior to upgrading. This is an upgrade, not a full installer. Note that the procedure has changed from previous versions.

If you have a Multiple User installation, upgrade the server first, then the clients.

  1. If you have not migrated your database from the built-in SQL Compact database to SQL Server, do so now.
  2. In AuditWizard, ensure that Database Purging is disabled.
  3. Back up your database
  4. Conditional, for installations earlier than 8.3.0: Right-click the installer AW830p.exe and select Run as administrator. This will avoid permission issues.
  5. Double-click the installer AW846p.msp. Choose the Repair AuditWizard v8 option.
  6. Redeploy the Scanner and/or Agent. Instructions:

Troubleshooting

Since AuditWizard 8.4.5, the installation method has been changed from an executable package (.exe) to the Windows Installer patch file format (.msp). Some users may encounter this error in attempting to run the upgrade installer:

   The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing,
   or the update patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer
   and that you have the correct upgrade patch.

If you need the full installer, you can download it from here.

Note that the procedure has changed slightly for 8.4.6: Instead of double-clicking AuditWizard.msi, right-click setup.exe and select Run as administrator.

Bug Fixes

67172 Invalid Core Count The Scanner and Agent were incorrectly auditing the number of cores on some processors. This has been resolved.
67191 Change Database Wizard SQL Server Details Handling Entering an incorrect SQL Server name will generate an error, indicating that the server can't be contacted. The Catalog/Database menu changes to an editable field. If both details are entered correctly, meaning that the wizard is able to contact the server and the database, it will proceed.
67353 Internet History Reports Not Showing Data The Asset Management Report Internet History was not displaying data. This has been resolved.
67394 Suppliers Not Sorted Alphabetically In Administration > Data Setup > Suppliers, the suppliers did not appear in alphabetical order. They also did not appear in alphabetical order in the Select Supplier dialog invoked from the Supplier tab. This has been resolved.
