[edit] Overview

This procedure would be used when you need to move only the database to another SQL server.

We highly recommend that you do not commit to the migrated installation until you are sure that the application is working without issues. Consider doing a test installation first.

[edit] Procedure

[edit] Backup

  1. In Management Studio:
    1. Back up your database.
    2. Restore the database backup to the new SQL Server.

[edit] Configuration

  1. On the Layton ServiceDesk server, in the Windows Services Console, stop the World Wide Web Publishing Service and LaytonServiceDesk service. This will take the live installation offline so that no data is altered during the procedure.
  2. Launch Database Tool (DBTool.exe), choose Connect to an existing database and point it to the new database.
  3. Restart the World Wide Web Publishing Service and LaytonServiceDesk service.
